Background

In 1995, a group of faithful Catholics met to discuss  a great need in our community for a junior-senior high school built upon the rich heritage of our Catholic Faith.

They believe that families should have another choice in education for their children, recognizing that home schooling may not be suitable for all and the public schools may not be meeting families' needs as Catholics.  In the absence of a Diocesan junior-senior high school in the county, Holy Cross Academy was established to fulfill these needs, incorporating in 1996 and opening its doors in 1997.

The Academy is firmly committed to the family, providing a Christian environment, offering the warmth of a home school and the structure of a more traditional school.

We believe in the formation of the whole person, and have created a unique atmosphere to facilitate not only the development of the mental faculties, but also the formation of moral character and the fostering of the spiritual life.

We believe that parents are the primary educators of their children and are committed to assisting them in fulfilling this duty.

The school is located at 4020 Barrington Rd, Oneida. The 15 acre property is situated on a cul-de-sac and is ideal for study, prayer and recreation.

While the Academy remains independent and private, it is recognized by the New York State Department of Education, operates with the personal blessing of the Bishop of the Diocese of Syracuse and is faithful to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.

"The mind of a child is a precious treasure of infinite value in the plan of God, and to impart divine truth to a child is an accomplishment that has no equal on the face of the earth."
