Drama & Arts
Art classes at the high school level follow the NYS syllabus of art sequence courses including Studio Art, Creative Crafts, Ceramics & Sculpture, and Graphic Design. 90% of students complete the art sequence.
Music consists of classes in general music theory, choral singing, band, and individual instrument lessons. Students with more advanced musical ability may audition for smaller ensembles. Major concerts and other public performances and competitions are scheduled throughout the year.
It is our desire to rebuild a program of Dramatic Arts, which in the past had been very popular. Students were selected for character roles through an audition process, or chose to participate as stagehands and production crew members.
In the past, the Drama Program produced full-scale musicals, comedies and dramas, inspired by the works of great playwrights, authors and musicians such as Shakespeare, J.R.R. Tolkien and Lerner & Loewe:
- Juliet & Her Romeo
- The Hobbit
- The Secret Garden
- My Fair Lady
- Seussical the Musical
- Murder in the House of Horrors
“Beauty will save the world.”
- Fyodor Dostoyevsky
“A school without music is a school without a soul.”
- St. John Bosco
